Collaborating with other creatives can be some of the most rewarding projects we work on. Getting to see their unique perspectives, making the journey through their process, and finding a way to tell their story in a way that true to their work is both challenging and refreshing. It allows us to look at things through a different lens than we’re used to.

With Kevin Schmidt’s “Reckless” installation, the scale was obviously a major factor. Having worked on projects like Facade Festival with the Burrard Arts Foundation, we had an idea of how to tackle this but to truly showcase the scope, we knew we needed aerial footage. This allowed us some breathtaking angles of the North Shore with the Polygon Gallery’s exterior lit by the Christmas lights on the exhibition.

Filming was only half of what made this project unique though. The music was carefully choreographed to the lights on the building’s exterior, dancing across all sides. This meant juggling the use of extended takes with our ground-level inserts to condense the experience of being watching the piece live into this short vignette.
